From Sterling’s inception, he has stayed focused on the future. Before that, he was Group Vice President for primary research at Management Horizons, the retail consulting division of Price Waterhouse. He also managed his own firm, Haueisen Associates, which specialized in site location research for shopping centers and other large commercial real estate ventures. Haueisen Associates was merged into Sterling Research in 1987.

As a market research consultant, Bill has implemented an impressive list of innovations. He developed the QUICKSCAN© system to save time and money associated with data entry through document imaging. He has pioneered high-tech image research tools such as eye movement tracking and image tachistoscopes. In the 90s he helped develop a flexible Integrated Voice Response (IVR) service called Go800®. His most recent innovation—Report-IT!℠—is Sterling’s proprietary online reporting and data mining system.

Bill has published dozens of articles in trade journals and frequently speaks to trade groups and professional associations about market research, best practices and new technology. He’s the author of a college textbook on microcomputers and business systems, has served on the editorial boards of the National Mall Monitor and the Journal of Retailing, and is listed in the Who’s Who for the Frontiers of Science.

Bill is a native of Columbus, Ohio, and earned his Ph.D. from Ohio State University’s School of Business Administration in Management Science. Jamie FaulknerPresident, Chief Executive Officer

Once Jamie Faulkner experienced first-hand as a customer how research findings could improve operations, she decided to make it her life’s work. One who truly understands your needs and can translate them into effective solutions. Continuous contact is the cornerstone of Leslie Martin’s role as the Director of Client Services. Her focus is transforming client relationships into true partnerships, much like what you’re looking to achieve with your customers through your market research.

Leslie is responsible for educating, training and supervising Sterling’s Client Services Senior Account Managers, Project Managers, Associate Project Managers, and Research Analysts. Leslie’s team has been instrumental in defining the requirements for Report-IT!℠, Sterling’s online reporting software, an advanced IVR (Integrated Voice Response) telephone survey system, numerous creative reporting formats for assessing trends in performance, the cost/benefit of service recovery, opportunities for improving operations and, ultimately, levels of customer loyalty. Leslie has final design approval, using 100% client satisfaction as her primary success criteria.

After Leslie caught a glimpse of research applied in real-world situations by a few professors while working on her Ph.D., she knew market research was where she belonged. Leslie now has more than 15 years of research under her belt. Prior to joining Sterling, she was Research Director for PSI Global in Tampa, Florida, a subsidiary of National Family Opinion (NFO). At PSI Global, she directed all activities of a nationally syndicated research program devoted to studying the financial attitudes, behaviors and preferences of U.S. consumers. She also coordinated the design, execution and analysis of proprietary consulting engagements in the area of retail financial services.

Amy B. JohnsonVice President, Operations

Data is only as good as its accessibility, accuracy and ability to lead you to positive action. That’s why you want Amy Johnson on your team.

Amy has over fifteen years of experience managing technology, data processing and quality processes in the market research industry. She makes sure you can take advantage of the latest technological developments in data management, software, and hardware. Amy and her staff also manage tab enhancement and report writers and file transfers between Sterling and its clients. Every day is a new adventure, which suits Amy just fine since she’s also been known to go white water rafting, explore caves, and repel down mountains.

Suzie WingateVice President, Finance

All companies must have someone that oversees the company finances, payroll, and human resource functions. For Sterling, this person is Suzie Wingate. Suzie has been with Sterling for over 15 years and is considered one of our veteran employees. Her responsibilities include overseeing accounting and financing activities and human resource functions at Sterling. With more than twenty years of experience in the accounting field, from both service and manufacturing industries, it is obvious Suzie is an asset to Sterling.

Prior to joining Sterling, Suzie worked for a local CPA firm in the Client Services department servicing a variety of small, medium-sized, and large clients providing client write-up and tax work. It is also there where Suzie met the man of her dreams, now her husband of eleven years, and father of their two children. Prior to that Suzie was the bookkeeper for a food manufacturer in Clearwater, Florida which was headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama. This is where Suzie gained most of her knowledge in cost accounting, which has proven to be extremely valuable when she joined Sterling years later.

Suzie graduated from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management. When Suzie is not crunching numbers for Sterling, Suzie enjoys spending time with her family, cooking out, and having fun with her kids. After Suzie finishes watching her kids learn new Tae Kwon Do moves, she can probably be found on the football or soccer field cheering on one of her kids.

Jill AltVice President, Information Technology

Virtually anything is possible through technology. If we can dream it, the technology group can make it a reality. It is this vision that makes Jill Alt an essential player on the Sterling team.

Jill has over fifteen years experience in Information Technology, spanning the financial, telecommunications, and healthcare industries. Her background includes organizations where a heightened sense of privacy and data security was paramount. This focus on data integrity gives our clients the assurance knowing that nothing is held in higher regard.

Jill is responsible for the development of all technology-based solutions, quality control, and systems infrastructure. Using best practices in .Net and Web development, you can rest assured that the solution is architected by a team of cutting edge professionals. Each member of the team is afforded the latest in development training and is continually provided with opportunities to hone their skills, ensuring they never atrophy.

There is a saying known in the world of technology, “It is always more costly to catch up than to keep up”. We believe this to be true, which is why we constantly assess our technology solutions. Can we cultivate fanatically loyal customers with the systems and technology infrastructure we have today? Jill and her team are up to that challenge. Perhaps it is the many hours spent challenging her own kids academically or physically (football & cheerleading), but comparatively balancing the constantly changing demands in the workplace can seem like kids’ play.

Jill attended the University of South Florida where she studied for a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. In addition to being a Project Management Professional (PMP), she also earned a certificate as a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE). The many hours at the football and cheerleading field provide ample opportunities to read up on the ever changing world of IT. If you happen to catch her without her nose in a trade magazine, she is likely snapping pictures. You should see what she can do with her Nikon!!
